It takes a certain kind of person to find beauty in an old barn. While many look at rustic old barns as junk and think they should be torn down, I look at them and see beauty and history of years gone by. Old weathered barns are being replaced by current aluminum pole barns. These buildings just don’t hold the charm of the antique barns. They just don’t hold the stories the others can; like where the wood is worn down because that is where Bessy the Cow scratched her back or where the horse chewed on the wooden post. To me the weathered wood shows character, almost like the wrinkles in an old face.
I love to photograph barns to keep them alive. That way, even if they are torn down, I still have a memory and they still have a life if only to hang in a frame on the wall. At least they will hang there proudly and with dignity!

With the dawn of the electronic age, don’t think that the old fashioned hand written thank you note is obsolete. They are still very much in fashion and expected. Yes, thank you notes should still be hand written. A computer printed or fill in the blank thank you note is definitely in poor taste.
When should you write a thank you note? A thank you note should be written to show gratitude for gifts received after a birthday, wedding, wedding or bridal shower, baby shower. As well as for gifts received during an illness or in sympathy.

The most common Hydrangea is the Hydrangea macrophylla which is the bigleaf or French Hydrangea. Sunflower remains were found in North America as early as 3,000 B.C. American Indians grew sunflowers and had many uses for them. The first use was of course for food. Other uses included extracting the yellow dye from the flower petal and to extract the sunflower oil for ceremonial body painting.
The fibrous stalks were used to add fiber to their diets. They also were used as strong building materials for houses and huts.
The yellow blooming sunflowers were very important as their blooming schedule indicated the hunting calendar. They also were used in ritualistic ceremonies.
